Legendary Hip Hop DJ, DJ Mister Cee, who was the personal DJ to one of Hip Hop’s greatest legends, The Notorious B.I.G., has had his fair share of controversy over the last few years. On numerous occasions, even though it’s really no one’s business but his own, Mister Cee’s sexuality has been called into question by his Hip Hop peers due to his numerous arrests involving the alleged solicitation of male prostitutes. Now, anyone who knows Hip Hop, knows that it is a genre fueled by homophobia. Every other sentence is a “pause” or “no homo” - - - which I myself am guilty of using. Arrest after arrest, Mister Cee’s peers have urged him to come out of the proverbial “gay closet”, but Cee has remained silent. Even his Hot 97 co-workers have publicly stated their mixed feelings on Cee’s reluctance to “embrace” his “desires” or preference.
In all fairness to Mister Cee, I don’t blame him for remaining mum on the subject. That man does not owe anyone an explanation besides his family. However, with the latest sexual allegations against him, Mister Cee has decided that he has been a distraction at Hot 97 for far too long, and after 20 years of dedicated service to Hot 97 and the New York radio community as a whole, he will be formally calling it quits.
Hot 97 General Manager, Alexandra Cameron, addressed Mr Cee’s resignation in a statement below.
“Due to some personal circumstances that have become public, after 20 years of service, Mr Cee has chosen to resign. We feel that this is in the best interest of both HOT 97 and Cee’s personal well-being. While we do not endorse the alleged activities, he is clearly facing a personal dilemma that is for him and only him to comment on. We are saddened by his departure; his contributions here at HOT 97 were great and we know him as a friend, a caring individual and significant hip hop advocate. We wish Mr Cee the best and will always consider him a family member of HOT 97.
Moments ago, he officially signed off, on the air and will finish out his last show today on September 11, 2013, an already sad day for New York City.”
Below is the video which allegedly forced Cee and Hot 97′s final hand.
SMH…if he’s gay let him be gay. However, the whole down low thing is very dangerous. You can be exposing women who believe you to be heterosexual to countless sexual diseases. Especially since you’re out in the streets soliciting the sexual services of unsavory male prostitutes who surely have a few diseases of their own.
To each his own, but Mister Cee, I don’t condemn you, but I sincerely hope you take this time away from the game to seek the help you truly need to get past whatever demons you’ve been battling with.
Get well soon.
