I recently had the pleasure of chopping it up with blazing hot Maybach Music Group artist Torch of Triple C’s and my oh my did this brother have plenty to talk about. Check out my conversation with this cool brother below.
MyBuzzworthy: How’d you manage to get so many hip hop heavyweights like Busta Rhymes, Waka Flocka, Yo Gotti, Rick Ross & Noreaga to all agree to hop on you’re remix for Bang Yo City?
Torch: Ahh man, you know it was actually supposed to be more people than that on it too, but unfortunately they didn’t make the deadline in time. But yeah the thing with getting all them guys on the record is that people just respect good music you know what I’m saying, so it’s like when I would play the joint for them they was just as excited to be apart of it as I was excited to ask them to do it which resulted in it turning out to be such a beautiful thing. It was just a lot of good energy in the room. Shoutout to Waka, Gotti ,Buss Nore & anybody else that had a part in making this beautiful record. And just know we got a West Coast version coming real soon too.
MyBuzzworthy : I feel you, and for someone to come on the scene fresh like you did and hold his own on a track with so many heavyweights I commend you brother, I truly commend you. You really did your thing.
Torch: I appreciate that, that’s big words right there my brother.
MyBuzzworthy: No doubt. Now earlier you mentioned you’re working on a West Coast remix for Bang Yo City, how soon can we expect that?
Torch: Ahh man, soon. We going make that the extended retardo remix you know what I mean. It’s going be big, but I don’t really want to speak on it until we get everything in stone because it was supposed to be a couple of bigger heavyweights on this first version that came out but like I said unfortunately they didn’t make this deadline so we had to just run with what we already had.
MyBuzzworthy: I mean even with the missing heavyweights you still broke us off with an amazing record so I could only imagine what you got in store for us when you and them other guys finally do link up.
Torch: I appreciate that man. I’m just trying to like restore that feeling. I feel like people is doing to much of that other stuff and instead of sticking to the script up top me being from a down south crew I feel like I gotta go extra hard to represent for the North.
MyBuzzworthy: Now speaking on repping for the North, give us a little back story on Torch the artist for those not in the know.
Torch: I’m originally from Castle Hill Projects in the Bronx, born and raised. When I was about 16, 17 I caught a little case so my mom sent to go live with my sister down South and that’s when I met Ross and he put me under his wing and it’s been history ever since.
MyBuzzworthy: Speaking on Ross, how does it feel being apart of such a powerful movement? I mean Ross and the entire Maybach Music family are straight killing the competition right now.
Torch: Oh man it feels great man, I been here since day one so to see it come together full circle like this is just an indescribable feeling. I mean I was there when nobody believed in it so to see it come to this ahh man I can’t even describe it.
MyBuzzworthy: Seeing as the movement is so strong right now, when can fans expect a Carol City Cartel / Maybach Music Compilation album from you guys?
Torch: Oh the Cartel album; that’s going to be out this winter, but the Maybach Music compilation should be out early next year next to my album because you know I’ got my solo joint coming too.
MyBuzzworthy: Okay so you said we can expect that to drop early next year so are we hinting towards a possible January release date or is that just speculation?
Torch: Oh naa that’s just speculation right now because aint nothing in stone just yet. But the Triple C’s project is definitely coming out in the fourth quarter and that’s not no speculation that’s true story right there. That’s definitely going down.
