Producing genius, and husband to musical goddess Alicia Keys, Hip Hop mogul Swizz Beatz is using that magical ear of his to push his beautiful wife to record a duet with record breaking British soul singer Adele because he is convinced their collaborative effort would “make history”.

Speaking on the possibility of having his wife pair up with the UK superstar, Swizzy recently told MTV News,

“I just know that you know greatness when you see greatness, and teaming two greats up together, it makes history. And I don’t even have to produce the track; I just want it to happen. She (Adele) can produce the track, somebody else can produce the track…

“I just thought that, man, this would be a great moment for both of them, because they have amazing styles and they both respect each other. They’re fans of each other. So let’s make this good for music.”

Although Swizzy’s enthusiasm should be greatly applauded, he’d be wrong to assume that simply teaming up his talented wife with another big name superstar would automatically spawn a sure-fire hit. Remember how poorly Alicia & Beyonce’s long awaited collabo, “Put It In A Love Song“, turned out?

I don’t remember that one even charting. Heck..it’s been almost two years and we’re STILL waiting on the video!

Yesterday afternoon the always vivacious Mrs. Alicia Keys was in attendance for the HIV Priorities for Positive Change – In Womans Words panel during the UN conference on AIDS which took place at the United Nations in New York City.

The 29 year-old Grammy award-winning vocalist spoke alongside singer Annie Lenox at the UN Woman Global Coalition conference.

Where I am, it’s not typical. And my life is not typical for people from where I am from. [Empire State of Mind] is about this metaphorical, aspirational place that you can go and forget who you use to be. You know, to have this brand new start. And I haven’t said this before. I haven’t connected into those sort of emotions. I’m still trying to tap into them as a writer and human being.

On empathizing with the less fortunate
I wish I could have everyone change places for a day. I think that’s all it would take for everything to change. Empathy. It’s easy for me to empathize because I’ve really seen it. I’ve been there so I can never forget that. My job is to speak out and provide opportunity. Of course, [it feels good to be looked up to] and your ego tells you that you want more of that –but you don’t want too much of that. Fame is a super drug. I’ve seen so many people take it and just go the wrong route. I just try to stay quiet and not get caught up in all of the noise of what this means or what my brand means. Just try to remain, you know, a normal human being.

“Speechless” featuring rap veteran Eve, is Alicia Keys’ official tribute song to her young bundle of joy, Egypt. In the accompanying video documentary, Alicia explains how it felt to pen the song in honor of her first born.

“I haven’t really put any songs out since my son was born so to be able to write this song that talks about him and how he makes me speechless..like the poet in me is gone away because I don’t even know what to say when I look at him.

“To just put something out that shows what you feel and what you’re going through — at the moment you’re going through it — and let the world hear it, let people vibe with you on it… That’s like music”

Musical power couple, Alicia Keys and  her super producer husband, Swizz Beatz, recently ditched the frigid cold of NYC for the tropical sun & sand of the lovely French island, St. Barts.

While out there Alicia took time off from mommy duties to do some shopping at the designer boutiques, while ole Swizzy took in some sights.

Uber mogul Diddy and Black Eyed Peas member, Fergie, were also spotting vacationing on the island.

Not gonna lie…these two make one hell of a couple. Sorry Mashonda.
