Still, he said, he often hears people remark about the importance to black children of having an African-American president and African-American first lady.

“That’s hugely important,” he added, “but you shouldn’t also underestimate the fact that there are a whole bunch of little white girls and white boys all across the country who just take it for granted that there’s an African-American president. That’s the president they’re growing up with, and that’s changing attitudes.”

While introducing Jim Kim as the new head of the World Bank yesterday afternoon, President Obama,  gave his first statement on the shocking slaying of 17 -year old Trayvon Martin.  Find out what our nation’s commander-in-chief had to say below:

“If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon. I think [Trayvon's parents] are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened. Obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through, and when I think about this, I think about my own kids, and I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and everybody aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together — federal, state and local — to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened. I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means we examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.”

Yup, expect that indictment to drop down on Zimmerman any day now.

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh is ruffling feathers once again, this time over his comments that Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke was a slut because she wants religious institutions to cover birth control under health insurance.  Currently 8 advertisers have hit Rush in his pockets and pull their advertising from his program although he has since apologized for his comments.
